Fire Fighting Equipment Training
Fire Fighting Equipment Training and Use
This course is provided for anyone who may need to use a fire extinguisher. Its principle aim is to ensure that the operator is provided with the required knowledge to be able to identify and select the correct extinguisher to use and to be able to safely extinguish a small fire.
The Fire Risk Assessment may determine that all employees should receive fire extinguisher training or, it may determine that nominated personnel i.e. Fire Wardens, Fire Fighting teams or staff in high risk areas should be provided with fire fighting equipment training.
This training course is normally provided at your workplace or other suitable location as directed. The duration of the course is one and a half hours and provides both theory and practical elements. Due to time restrictions (practical use of extinguishers) this course is generally limited to a maximum of 15 persons, (greater numbers may be accommodated, please contact to discuss your requirements).
The theoretical input is presented utilising power-point presentation equipment and covers subjects such as:
1. Theory of Combustion.
2. Mechanisms of Fire Spread.
3. Types of fire fighting equipment available
4. Colour Coding of Extinguishers.
The practical element of the course is provided by a 'Hands-On' session utilising a Fire Training Rig, this training rig allows staff to experience extinguishing a fire under the direct control of the instructor to ensure the safety of the staff.
Staff can be presented with a variety of fires e. small tray spill fire, waste bin fire, chip pan fire, or TV monitor/computer screen fire.
Extinguishers can be provided by us at an additional cost to recover the recharging costs.
The above Fire Training Rig meets the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, further details can be found on our suppliers Web Site at, www.fitp-ltd.com
